Javi García has signed for Zenit St Petersburg for a fee believed to be in the region of £13m.

The 27-year-old has linked up with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas after spending two years at the Etihad Stadium. García joined the blues from Benfica in 2012, but failed to hold down a role in the starting eleven during his stay.

The Spaniard played a crucial role in Manchester City's 2013/2014 Premier League title win, starting the last six games of the season and offered Manuel Pellegrini cover in the back four.

García made 71 competitive appearances for the blues in two years.
