Valencia have signed Manchester City striker Álvaro Negredo on a season-long loan deal.

The 29-year-old striker heads to the Mestalla Stadium after just one year in Manchester where he and his family struggled to settle. The deal includes an obligation to buy the Spaniard for a fee of €30m next summer.

Negredo joined the Premier League champions in a £16.4m deal from Sevilla last summer and enjoyed a promising start to life at the Etihad Stadium. 'The Beast', a nickname given to him by Manchester City fans, scored 7 of his 9 Premier League goals before December, but endured a frustrating end to the season through injury.

It is believed that Negredo forced a move back to Spain through after struggling to adapt to life in Manchester.

The striker will wear the No.7 shirt at Valencia.
