According to the Daily Star, Manchester City could sell James Milner for as little as £5m in January.

The 28-year-old midfielder is out of contract next summer and will only sign a new deal with the Premier League champions if more first-team football is guaranteed by Manuel Pellegrini.

Manchester City are keen to keep hold of the man they paid £26m for in 2010, but would prefer to offload him for less than a fifth of that fee than allow him to leave the Etihad Stadium on a costless transfer next summer. City value Milner at £15m, but potential suitors Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal would be unprepared to pay that fee.

Manuel Pellegrini will target Southampton's England duo James Ward-Prowse, 19, and Jay Rodriguez, 25, should Milner leave the club.
