Player Ratings from Manchester City's 5-0 win at home to Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

Joe Hart: Did not have much to do throughout but when called upon made some good saves in particular from Papiss Cisse at the start of the second-half. Kept a well deserved clean sheet. 6/10

Pablo Zabaleta: Got forward time and time again offering the hosts a constant attacking threat; was back to his usual self after struggling against Victor Moses in his last outing at Stoke. 6.5/10

Vincent Kompany: Much improved performance from the captain than in recent weeks - commanded the backline well to keep an important clean sheet. 6.5/10

Eliaquim Mangala: Solid performance from the Frenchman, made some very good clearances and showed great strength to win the ball back at times for City. 6/10

Aleksandar Kolarov: Kept his place in the team after Stoke however, the Serbian didn't help his case for a start against Barcelona got into some great attacking positions only to be let down by his delivery. 5/10

Yaya Touré: Good performance from the Ivorian who was re-adjusting to the Premier League after 6 weeks away. Could have got an assist to his name with a well-timed pass for his fellow countryman Wilfried Bony, who saw his shot well stopped by Tim Krul in the second-half. Also, the powerhouse midfielder completed the highest number of passes in the league on Saturday. 7/10

Fernandinho: Broke up play very well throughout to give City back possession and was also very good holding up play and passing across the pitch; completing 92% of his passes in total. 6.5/10

Samir Nasri: Not only did he take his goal very well, but the French creative midfielder was a constant thorn in Newcastle's side; could have easily scored more on the night as he was involved in almost everything impressive linked with City's attacking display. 8/10

David Silva: Provided a wonderful pass for Edin Dzeko's goal as well as scoring two very well taken goals - deservedly Man of the Match. 9/10

Edin Dzeko: The arrival of new signing Wilfried Bony seemed to spur him on. Dzeko played with a spring in his step, not only did he take his goal with some style but also constantly pressured the Newcastle backline - the Bosnian will be very relieved to end a remarkable five-month goal drought as he looks to force his way back into Pellegrini's plans for the future. 7.5/10

Sergio Aguero: Set the hosts on their way to a convincing victory with his well dispatched penalty in the first minute, his perfectly weighted chest pass was well dispatched by Silva into the bottom corner of the net in the second 45; it must be said that the Argentine is gradually finding the form he showed before his injury. 8/10

Subs:

Jesus Navas: Came on for David Silva on the hour mark, got in a few good crosses in a decent cameo appearance 6/10

Frank Lampard: Replaced Samir Nasri with 20 minutes to play - kept things ticking along in the centre of midfield alongside Touré and Fernandinho. 6/10

Wilfried Bony: Came on for his debut on the hour mark replacing Aguero, and was unlucky not to grab his debut goal off the substitutes' bench, but for Tim Krul's outstretched leg denying the Ivorian from close range. Showed signs of early promise with his movement and hold-up play, City fans have reason to be excited over their new signing. 6/10
