Manchester City officials are planning a new move to keep midfielder Yaya Touré at the club, as rumours circulate about a possible departure for the Ivorian. The club are planning to offer him an ambassadorial role at City for when his playing days are over, provided that he stays at the club until he retires.

The 31-year-old has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal, however City are open to adding time on if Touré feels that he would like to play for that long. His £220,000 pound-per-week wages would most likely have to be lowered due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, with City using the ambassadorial role as a ploy to sweeten the deal, with a coaching job even having been discussed. This is all in stark contrast to last summer, when it was suggested that Yaya could leave City for another big European club, with Ligue 1 champions PSG amongst those reportedly interested.

Since signing for The Citzens from Barcelona in 2010, the powerhouse has made over 150 appearances for the club, scoring 61 goals. The midfielder has won two Premier League titles, as well as an FA Cup and League Cup for City, being influential in all. He was recently crowned as the African Player of the Year, and followed that up by claiming the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast earlier in 2015.

Meanwhile, his team-mate Bacary Sagna is considering his role at the club due to his inability to win a permanent first-team place ahead of Argentinian full-back Pablo Zabaleta. Despite only signing on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer, the Frenchman is already reportedly considering a move away. Roma are apparently interested, with Sagna's countryman and Roma manager Rudi Garcia said to be very keen on bringing the player to Italy.
