Manchester City coasted to victory against West Brom in a sun filled Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Wilfried Bony, Fernando Reges and David Silva. The game started controversially as referee Neil Swarbrick became the latest referee to send somebody off in a case of mistaken identity, giving Gareth McAuley his marching orders after Craig Dawson had fouled Bony in the box. The Ivorian went on to score his first goal for the Citizens, before Fernando added a second before half time, which was his side's 1000th goal in the Barclays Premier League. Silva secured the victory in the second half, knocking in a Stefan Jovetic shot from close range. Here's my match ratings for the City players:

Joe HART: Following on from his excellent display against Barcelona in midweek with a clean sheet, Hart was untroubled throughout the match and was greeted with chants of 'England's number one' by his home fans. He didn't put a foot wrong during the game, but didn't have to do much right. 6

Pablo ZABALETA: A good display from a player who I still believe is the Premier League's best right-back. Solid in defence when called upon, whilst his overlapping runs helped City break down a determined West Brom defence. 7

Vincent KOMPANY: The skipper is still not back to the levels we know he can play at but a clean sheet will have done the world of good for his confidence. He was okay today, just about doing enough to thwart rare West Brom attacks. 6

Elaquim MANGALA: The Premier League's most expensive centre-back has been much maligned this season but was good today. Bringing the ball out of defence well, the Frenchman enjoyed a more comfortable afternoon than he has been used to. 6

Gael CLICHY: Put forward his case as City's number one left-back very well, not letting West Brom trouble him down the right hand side and supporting his fellow players in attack, rarely losing the ball. 7

FERNANDO: His tap-in saw City score their 1000th goal in the Premier League, and he'll have been delighted to add a goal to a solid defensive midfield performance. 7

Frank LAMPARD: Didn't have any trouble defensively which allowed him to bomb on and support the frontmen, Lampard would have wanted to grab a goal though due to City's superior possession. 6

Jesus NAVAS: We saw a better end product today from the fast winger as he created a good amount of chances for his team-mates. He still needs to work on releasing the ball at the right time, but can be pleased with his performance. 6

David SILVA - MOTM: Silva sparkled yet again as he added the third goal that secured the win. City always look for him whenever they have the ball, which is hardly surprising considering his ability to unlock defences with a single pass. The standout player in the game. 9

Wilfried BONY: Finally scored his maiden goal after his January move from Swansea, which will come as a relief to the striker as he finally started a Premier League game ahead of Edin Dzeko. Also won the foul which led to the sending off, as he starts to pay back his hefty £28million pound price tag. 8

Sergio AGUERO: A constant treat to the opposition as his speed allowed City to stretch the West Brom backline. He'll be annoyed about not getting on the scoresheet, considering the dominance of the home side. 7

Substitutes:

Stefan JOVETIC: Came on for the final 25 minutes in place of Lampard, and had a lively cameo in truth. Helped to create Silva's goal with an effort which was flicked into the back of the net; he'll be hoping for more first-team opportunities in the future to prove himself though. 6

Edin DZEKO: The Bosnian forward came on for the final few minutes for Bony - but did not have enough time to influence the already comfortable scoreline in City's favour. 5

James MILNER: The hard-working experienced Englishman came off the subs bench to replace MOTM Silva, got on the ball quite a few times, but could not do much in fairness. 5
