Premier League champions Manchester City are expected to swoop for VfL Wolfsburg's attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

It was reported in February that The Citzens had been watching the former Chelsea man and were planning a £27million pound bid and it seems they are stepping up their plans to nab the 23-year-old with reports suggesting either Edin Dzeko or Stefan Jovetic could be added to sweeten the deal.

de Bruyne and Wolfsburg have been a revelation so far this campaign with the side currently sitting comfortably in second position in the Bundesliga and are on the favourites to lift the Europa League trophy. de Bruyne has been one of the key figures behind this success scoring nine and assisting 16 in the league since his permanent move from Chelsea.

City are looking to refresh their squad ahead of next season and de Bruyne is one player of a duo that has been rumoured to make the move to the Etihad with Raheem Sterling been the other. Sterling has recently rebuffed Liverpool’s offer of £100,000-a-week contract and will decide on his future in the summer.

City will face tough competition from other clubs for both players with; Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Arsenal all chasing the England international's signature. Bayern aswell as Paris Saint Germain and former club Chelsea have been chasing De Bruyne.
