As part of an inevitable summer overhaul, it seems that Manchester City are gathering particular interest in Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

The Daily Mirror are even speculating that the Citizens will be willing to part with £12million pounds to secure the services of the defender who has featured in several England squads this season. Rose shot to prominence in 2010 when a spectacular volley gave Tottenham victory against North London rivals Arsenal, sparking a run of form which led to Champions League qualification for Harry Redknapp's men.

Eyebrows were raised last summer when Rose was handed a new contract following an underwhelming season and the arrival of Welsh left-back competitor Ben Davies. However, this added competition has seen Rose become an integral member of Spurs' young side which has been assembled under Mauricio Pochettino, with his attacking overlapping runs being cited as a particularly important asset for any modern full-back.

For this reason, it seems that City would have to pay in excess of the £12million pound fee being rumoured, with £15million seeming more likely a fee that chairman Daniel Levy would even consider. Rose played against City this past weekend, and despite being impressive on return from injury, he was unable to prevent Spurs losing 1-0 in a game in which they created a lot for no reward.
