After having recently been linked with a move away from Manchester City, City's midfield engine, Yaya Touré has said he will stay at the club.

Speaking with Manchester Evening standard, Toure said: "I will definitely stay - the fans don't have to be worried. My target this year is to try to do everything possible to make this team improve well and I am sure with my experience, maybe I hope, with the players coming in a couple of weeks, a couple of months, definitely it is going to be a strong City next year."

The Ivory Coast captain has been linked with joining up with former City manager, Roberto Mancini at Serie A side Inter Milan. City chariman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club would not consider selling him. Touré looked far from his best this season and it was reflected throughout the rest of the squad as the Citizens picked up no silverware.

City will look to stake a claim for the title next season an improve on frankly disappointing last campaign. They will also be looking to advance further in the UEFA Champions League, as they were knocked out by La Liga giants Barcelona, who are coincidentally in this Saturday's final.

"It is one of my big targets because City have been in the shadow of United for so long," he stated. "Sometimes their fans are coming back, saying we are the top because we have already won the Champions League. What I want for the fans is the Champions League. I will do everything that’s possible."

The World Cup looked like it took a toll on the Ivorian but he will look to come back stronger next season: "I am looking at next season and I will start working again. Because last season there has been a lot of football for me. There were difficult moments as well emotionally and physically. Now is a good time to rest and next season you are going to see the top one."
