AS Roma are set to compete with Liverpool over the signature of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in the summer, according to reports.

The Bosnian is almost certain to leave the Etihad in the summer after a disappointing campaign as he scored just four goals in 22 appearances.

Dzeko fell further down the pecking order at City after January signing Wilfred Bony £24 million arrival from Swansea City, and is expected to be surplus to requirements as a result.

But the 29-year-old won’t come cheap to any potential suitors after he signed a new four-year-deal last summer.

Nevertheless, the Italians are looking for more firepower with Francesco Totti and Adem Ljajic their top scorers this campaign with just nine goals each and fellow compatriot Miralem Pjanic could help entice the striker to Stadio Olimpico.

Liverpool have also been struggling upfront with Daniel Sturrdige having been absent for most of the season through injury and Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert failing to living up to expectations.

Rumours have suggested that Dzeko could be used as part of a swap deal for Raheem Sterling.
