Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo has completed his move from Manchester City to Valencia for £23.8million.

Negredo moved to Manchester City back in 2013 for a fee of £16.4m and after one season with 23 goals in 48 appearances he moved back to Spain on loan on transfer deadline day last summer.

This is a great piece of business for the Manchester club as the fee will virtually cover the £25million cost of Wilfred Bony who moved from Swansea back in January.

Unsuccessful loan spell

“The Beast” failed to really impress at the Mestella scoring just five goals in 30 games but a strict agreement as part of the loan deal was that they would stump up the asking price for the striker for a permanent deal this summer.

However despite only signing on Wednesday there are rumours that the club will sell him instantly at a loss if they have problems with meeting financial fair play requirements.

Negredo is quite the veteran when it comes to Spanish football having previously played for; Rayo Vallecano, Almeria, Real Madrid and Sevilla before his move to England.

The striker was one of five players that were released by City on Wednesday as their contracts ran out on June 30. Negredo was joined by; James Milner, Micah Richards, Scott Sinclair and Matja Nastasic.

Milner moved to Liverpool after he decided to not extend his stay at the Etihad, Sinclair failed to really make an impact at Eastland’s and after falling out of favour he made a £2.5million move to Aston Villa after spending last season on loan with the Midlands side.

After a loan spell Fiorentina last season Richards has agreed to join Sinclair at Villa Park and Nastasic effectively moved to Schalke back in March when the Germans triggered the transfer clause after being impressed with the Serbians form whilst on loan at the club.
