Chelsea's experienced defender Branislav Ivanovic, has publicly stated that the club's main title challengers do not worry them - including Manchester City.

The Citzens have spent in excess of £70million pounds this summer, to tie up deals with three Englishmen as well as a few youth talents too. Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, Patrick Roberts, Enes Ünal and Ismael Bennacer have all joined the sky Blues since the season ended in late May.

Plenty of business being done

Although Chelsea's business has been fairly quiet for a team of their stature, the Serbian has insisted their rivals' acquisitions will not worry them.

Having sold Petr Cech to London rivals Arsenal, the Blues have signed Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as a direct competitor to current number one Thibaut Courtois. At 23, Courtois is highly-regarded as one of the world's top five 'keepers, and Begovic, who is heavily experienced in the top flight, will benefit from playing at a top club as well as competing for plenty of trophies in the process.

Gap between top teams closing

Also, Jose Mourinho confirmed a deal to take AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan deal from the Ligue 1 side. The striker, who struggled for form and confidence on a loan spell at Manchester United last term, has been thus far unable to provide the same world-class quality that millions have grown accustomed to - before his serious knee injury in 2014 which ruled him out of contention to play for Colombia in the World Cup.

Apart from that, the Blues have not done much strengthening. Truth be told, they do not need to do much. With a world-class youth system, plenty of capable youngsters in the ranks and a blossoming team flourishing together, signing too many players could easily hurt the balance of the squad.

Ivanovic admitted the club's rivals will naturally get stronger, but also insisted Chelsea will continue to strengthen with extra pressure placed upon them. "We have played against Sterling before and we know how good he is as an individual. But he will need a period to adapt to his new team."

On the sides closest to them, he said they 'want to be stronger' as they are 'not happy about finishing behind us.' The main reason why they are making 'big signings', is because they 'want to be champions', so as a result the Blues should continue in the same vein of consistency they boasted last term.
