Manchester City have officially confirmed the departure of another promising talent, but thankfully this time, it's only on a temporary basis.

20-year-old centre-back Jason Denayer, who enjoyed an excellent spell away from Eastlands at Scottish champions Celtic in the 2014/15 campaign, has joined Turkish giants Galatasaray with the hopes of continuing to feature regularly in a competitive league away from City.

Denayer eager for first-team chances

Although the loan itself may be frustrating for both the talented Belgian and excited City supporters, it's not particularly much of a surprise given the circumstances. With competition for places being higher than ever before with the sky Blues, Denayer is eager to continue his youth development elsewhere - and his agent confirmed, if they signed another defender in the current window, his client would make another loan departure.

What's more surprising, is the fact that Manuel Pellegrini and his coaching staff did not take the decision upon themselves to send him out on-loan to a fellow Premier League club. He's got the talent, undoubtedly, but with the likes of club-captain Vincent KompanyEliaquim Mangala, Martin Demichelis and new signing Nicolás Otamendi all above him in the pecking order, it'd be unlikely that he'd see much first-team action, if at all.

City's depth in quality means he has to look elsewhere

The encouraging thing though, is at age 20, he's the youngest in an ever-improving City backline and the fact he's being loaned out suggests he's part of their long-term plans for the future.

He'll be hoping to enjoy similiar successes to that of last campaign, with his new employers in Turkey over the next nine months or so - where he's likely to be competing in the UEFA Champions League too as Hamza Hamzaoğlu's men have been drawn in a tough group alongside La Liga giants Atlético Madrid, Portuguese champions SL Benfica and newboys FC Astana.
