Manchester City got back to winning ways in emphatic style, with a 4-1 victory away from home against Sunderland in their Capital One Cup tie during midweek.

Back to the business of the Premier League now though, and Manuel Pellegrini's men will be hoping for a better display than the one which saw them succumb to a 2-1 home defeat - at the hands of Slaven Bilic's spirited West Ham side last time out.

Spurs hoping for strong display at home

Tottenham meanwhile, are at home for this fixture - and will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing defeat of their own. A well-taken brace by Mathieu Flamini helped fire the Gunners to a sweet derby victory at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening, and Mauricio Pochettino will be eagerly anticipating an improved performance all-round from his selected players this afternoon.

Heung-Min Son has been Spurs' star since his big money switch from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, and is already becoming a firm fan favourite in north London. Harry Kane, last season's revelation in attack, is still yet to break his goal-scoring duck in the league - but he's drawing closer to opening his tally for the campaign.

Christian Eriksen continues to prosper as the side's creative spark in midfield - whilst Eric Dier has shown his versality as the youngster retains his place in midfield, pushing forward from his usual defensive-minded position at the back.

Pellegrini makes a few surprise selections

Willy Caballero makes a rare start in-between the posts, after his solid display on Wearside during midweek - whilst club captain Vincent Kompany has been left out of the matchday squad - possibly not ready after his calf strain. A few surprise selections, perhaps some of the key players are being rested for fixtures to come?
