Sergio Agüero has joined an elite club of players to have scored five goals in a single match in the Premier League, something that the Argentine striker has done today against Newcastle United in a 6-1 rout - something only four other players in history have done since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.

Kun-believable

To the delight of Manuel Pellegrini and fantasy football managers all over the world, the 27-year-old joined Andy Cole, Dimitar Berbatov, Alan Shearer and Jermain Defoe as the only players to have scored five Premier League goals in one game.

From that performance, alongside a goal from new player Kevin de Bruyne, Agüero will now leave for Argentina to join Gerardo Martino's side for national team duty as he has two upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His first match will be against Ecuador in Buenos Aires on Thursday evening before traveling to Asuncion to take on Paraguay on Tuesday.

More statistics include him becoming the first South American to score five in England's top flight, the fastest five goals made by a player with 20 minutes, and he also equalled Carlos Tevez as the Argentinian top scorer in the Premier League, with 84 goals. Finally, it is his fourth ever match for Manchester City in which he has scored at least three goals in the match.

The fab five

The Argentine's performance equals Andrew Cole's five goals for Manchester United against Ipswich Town in a 9-0 victory on March 4, 1995, which was also the biggest home win in Premier League history. It also levels up with Alan Shearer's goals for Newcastle United against Sheffield Wednesday in a 8-0 victory in September 1999, Jermain Defoe's goals for Tottenham Hotspur against Wigan Athletic in a 9-1 victory in November 2009 and Dimitar Berbatov's goals for Manchester United against Blackburn Rovers in a 7-1 win on November 27, 2010.
