Praise has flooded in for Sergio Aguero following his five goal haul in Manchester City's 6-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, with manager Manuel Pellegrini and fellow goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne the latest to weigh in on the Argentine's dazzling display.

With City a goal down to Steve McClaren's side, Aguero took matters into his own hands in the Premier League clash, hammering home five goals in an amazing 20 minute spell to turn the game around. This equalled a record set by four other players, for the highest amount of goals scored in a Premier League game.

Aguero is up there with Messi and Ronaldo, says boss

This feat has seen the positive comments coming in thick and fast for Aguero, leading to Pellergini comparing him to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in his post match interview.

Stating that once you take out the aforementioned pair, Aguero is the "best player in the world", Pellegrini was enthusiastic in his praise for the striker, who he said was "always making important contributions" in whatever competition he played in.

Obviously, in his role as a manger, he has to try and put the attention onto the whole team rather than one individual. The Chilean did this by saying that the team must "continue to improve", as they chase glory in both domestic and European competition.

De Bruyne thinks he has a world class teammate

One man who could afford to give him wholehearted praise without needing to worry about the rest of the players was de Bruyne, who got on the scoresheet himself with a superbly executed volley.

The Belgian international, who arrived at City just a couple of months ago in a £50million move from Wolfsburg, cited Aguero as "world class", admitting that when someone is in "such a flow" as his teammate was, the only solution is to give them the ball.

On his own goal, his fourth already in Sky-Blue, de Bruyne said that it "was my intention to shoot", and he believes he "did well" to score from such an angle.
