In this evening's Manchester City news, plenty has happened. With the international break almost over, the sky Blues' fixture against Bournemouth (Saturday, 3pm KO) is creeping up on the horizons.

de Bruyne hoping to keep improving after excellent start

Kevin de Bruyne, who has settled into life in Manchester commendably well since his big money switch from VfL Wolfsburg in the last week of the transfer window, has said he's optimistic about continuing to improve on a personal level - despite an excellent month for both club and country. Having returned to England's top flight after departing league champions Chelsea in January of 2014, he's already created thirteen chances, scored three and assisted two also.

Touré nominated for prestigious award - yet again

Yaya Touré is on the verge of making African history, where he could become the first player ever to win the African Player of the Year award on FIVE separate occasions. Samuel Eto'o, formerly of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea to name a few, won the accolade four times.

Eleven players in the Premier League are on an initial 37-man shortlist, including Leicester's Riyad Mahrez - who has set the League alight with some exciting displays thus far during the 2015/16 campaign.

However, the powerhouse midfielder also has a crucial decision to make. He's unsure as to whether or not he should continue with his international exploits with his native Ivory Coast, having won the African Cup of Nations earlier in the year after a month-long assault in Equatorial Guinea. At 32-years-old, he's not getting particularly younger, and joining up with the squad could have an adverse effect on his energy levels with a plethora of matches throughout a season to contend with..

Tug-of-war with Belgium over Kompany's fitness

Lastly, onto the club captain. Vincent Kompany, who has looked impressive in the heart of City's defence this term, has made eight appearances in all competitions so far for Manuel Pellegrini's men. Having suffered from a calf injury during their 2-1 defeat against Juventus, he hasn't played since - and that was a month ago.

Understandably, you can sympathise with the boss' reservations over Vincent's fitness. After all, he's one of the club's most important figures. Without his presence alone, City look unfamiliar and weary at times.

Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has confirmed that the skipper IS fit to play in their final Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel tomorrow night, but as a contest, the match itself is pointless - seeing as the Red Devils have already booked their place in France ahead of next summer's tournament.

We just hope, that nothing else goes wrong. It'd be wrong to refuse Kompany the right to represent his native country, regardless of whether it's an important fixture or not, but after injuries to Sergio Agüero and David Silva over the past few days, City supporters will undoubtedly be reluctant to see that game tomorrow.
