The first leg saw Manchester United firmly grasp their chance of a dream Champions League final; Nemanja Vidic heading home the opener before Bastin Schweinsteiger secured the game changing away goal just eight minutes later.

But as the Red Devils make the 700 mile journey to the Allianz Arena, all eyes are on the 'underdogs' to overcome the monumental challenge that is Bayern Munich.

It is likely to be one of the biggest, toughest, and hardest matches of David Moyes' career, who will be without a number of figures for the second leg of the quarter final fixture. Rafael (thigh) and Marouane Fellaini (unknown) both missed the club's final training season, while Patrice Evra (knee), Ryan Giggs (hamstring) and Ashley Young (hand) are all potential doubts for the biggest 90 minutes of the Red Devils' season. Furthermore, pivotal midfielder Juan Mata is cup-tied, and Robin van Persie (knee) is ruled out.

Fortunately, the Scot will be reunited with the services of Wayne Rooney - despite the initial worries of the Englishman also missing the game. After Moyes confirmed he will be featuring on the team sheet, Rooney is expected to have a pain-killing injection to allow him to play.

Thiago Alcantara however, will not be playing for Bayern Munich. Injury keeps the Spaniard out of the team, while the Germans will be without key central midfielders Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweingsteiger. Since September 2012 Bayern Munich have only lost three Champions League games, and the German is the only player to never start. Manchester United will want to use his suspension to full force, and hopefully inflict the fourth defeat on Die Bayern.

Guardiola has since claimed hs only has fourteen first-team players available, with the likes of Diego Contento, Tom Starke, Lukas Raeder, Holger Badstuber, and phenomonal threat Xheran Shaqiri all out injured.

Looking back to the weekend league fixtures, Manchester United brushed aside Newcastle United 4-0, while Bayern Munich fell to a humiliating 1-0 defeat against FC Augsburg. On the European stage United have also impressed, and having kept a clean sheet in five of their nine Champions League games this season; they hold more than any other side.

With both sides lacking a number of key starters, an upset may be on the cards, as the Premier League strugglers aim to overcome the current European champions on German soil.
