Manchester United are reportedly moving one step closer to signing Chilean star midfielder, Arturo Vidal, with the Daily Mail reporting that the English club are currently in talks with Vidal’s agent. The midfielder’s agent supposedly held talks with Manchester United yesterday, while other members of the Manchester united backroom battled out to agree a transfer fee with Juventus, with the current touted fee being £35 million.

The central midfielder’s agent is one Fernando Felicevich, who is also the agent of recent move away star Alexis Sanchez who joined Arsenal earlier this week. Although Vidal signed a new contract with Juventus just last year, to keep him at the club until 2017, reports in his native country of Chile are picking up speed, stating the midfielder has never had a better time to move and if he wants to improve his football, then now is the time to move on to new challenges.

Since joining Juventus Vidal has won the Serie A three times, the Supercoppa Italiana twice and on an individual note has won the awards Juventus player of the year for the 2012-2013 season and Serie A’s team of the year in 2012-2013.  But it is suggested he thinks now is the time to face the challenge which so many players want to face eventually, the task of winning the Premier League title.

It is now a well-known fact, that Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is wanting to improve the lacklustre midfield who registered 1 assist between them last season. With constant reports linking Manchester United to midfielders; Jordy Clasie, Kevin Strootman, Wesley Sneijder, Alex Song and of course the long running reports of Arturo Vidal to Manchester United. With the confirmation of Ander Herrera, Manchester United are already part way towards completing the restructure of their central midfield issues. But it is obvious for all who have watched Manchester United last season, that they are in need of at least one more midfielder and a top class midfielders such as Arturo Vidal will be a massive boost to them.

Arturo Vidal’s experience and success in the Italian league with Juventus, will stand him in good stead to fit into any possible tactics that Louis Van Gaal will make. The romantic notion of ‘Total Football’ with Louis Van Gaal is still about today, but at this World Cup which saw Van Gaal guide is Netherlands side, to the surprise of many, to the World Cup semi-finals and were only beaten cruelly on penalty shootouts by Argentina, ‘Total Football’ has not been a massive part in his side.

Vidal can however fit into the possible remake of ‘Total Football’ due to his experience of short possession passing, with Juventus. But he is able to adapt too many different forms of tactics and personal roles. Frim playing as an attacking playmaker all the way to the holding midfielder. However he is asked to play, if Manchester United sign the Chilean, their midfield will be greatly improved next season.
