Manchester United have confirmed Chicharito will join van Gaal's squad in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, a day before the first game of the US tour.

The Dutch manager named his 25-man travelling squad yesterday, in which the 'Little Pea' was not included. This caused speculation surrounding the future of Hernandez at Old Trafford but the abscense of the player in the annoucement seems due to further rest as he was part of the Mexico squad at the World Cup, helping them reach the knockout stages of the tournament.

Chicharito failed to start every one of Mexico's four games in Brazil, including the last sixteen tie against Holland, in which Los Manitos bowed out after two late goals despite leading 1-0.

Hernandez goes to America hoping to impress the new boss alongside fellow frontmen Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Will Keane.

United's tour gets underway at the Rosebowl stadium with a friendly against LA Galaxy on Wednesday 23rd July in front of a sell-out crowd of around 90,000.
