Manchester United have confirmed that winger Bebe who was signed from Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes, for a reported £7.4 million despite Sir Alex Ferguson never seeing the player in a match, has now signed for Portuguese side Benfica for £2.4million along with a 50% sell on clause. Meaning Manchester United have made a loss of £5 million in just four years.

The winger is claimed as being Manchester United’s worst signing under Sir Alex Ferguson, with the player only making 7 appearances in four seasons at Manchester United he never was able to stake a claim in either the first team or even the substitutes regularly, he found himself going out on loan to three different clubs in the four seasons. Including Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira. He did manage a combined 62 appearances while out on loan scoring 16 goals in the process.

Manchester United released a statement on the official club website stating, "Everybody at United would like to wish Bebe the best of luck for the future."

Bebe is joining the Portuguese club Benfica after they completed a domestic treble last season and finished runners up in the Europa League after being beaten on penalties by Spanish side Sevilla.

While Bebe did not perform or contribute anything for Manchester United, for sure all Manchester United fans would want the winger to do well at Benfica.
