According to Spanish International and United's record transfer Juan Mata, Van Gaal's first change atfter taking charge at Old Trafford was to ensure every player was on the same page by insisting all players only comunicate in English.

Mata, who also revealed how well fellow Spaniard and United new boy Ander Herrera was settling in, said:

"The manager says we have to speak only in English."

The contriversial Dutch Manager, who has previously managed Bayern Munich and Barcelona, is set to continue his shake up at United with a number of big names potentially heading for the Old Trafford exit. The futures of Ashley Young, Nani and Darren Flecher are currently undecided, with all three players being given a chance to prove themselves in United's pre-season tour of the USA.

Van Gaal, who guided the Netherlands to third place in the World Cup earlier this month, has also rung in the changes in terms of the style of football he wants his United team to play. In order to make the most of a dangerous front three of Mata, Van Persie and Rooney, the Dutchman has adpoted a 3-5-2 system which makes use of attacking full-backs to act as wingers when in possesion, and defenders when possesion is lost.

This new system was first used in United's 7-0 victory over LA Galaxy earlier this week. When questioned on this new formation, Mata said:

"The truth is we are trying to play with a new system. For me personally if I play behind the two strikers it's a good position. I can look for the ball. I feel comfortable in this role."

Before adding "This system can be very dangerous. But you have to communicate and co-ordinate."

United will continue to test their new philosophy later today when they face Serie A giants A.S. Roma in Denver.
