Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has confirmed his move to Manchester United on Continental Radio, calling the deal a 'dream'.

The Sporting Lisbon man has been linked to Old Trafford for weeks as a key target. Reports suggest that Manchester United will be forced into paying at least £16m and sending Nani out on a season long loan to his former club.

In the interview in his homeland, Rojo suggested the deal was imminent. Speaking to Continental which has now been quoted in various newspapers as real, Rojo said: "It's a dream to play at Manchester United and I am very proud of having the chance to work with van Gaal."

"I spoke with Juan Sebastian Veron about Manchester United when we were at Estudiantes. I have always liked English football and I should adapt to playing this new style easily."

The 24-year-old has been claimed to be signing a 4 year contract and the deal could be completed as soon as tomorrow when he will fly into Manchester for a medical at Bridgewater hospital.

Many reports suggested that the deal would have to be called off following a row between Sporting and Rojo's third party ownership. In addition to this, Rojo sent Sporting into dismay when he refused to train as he attempted to push the move to United through. Rojo later apologised, although that apology is seen to be another way of making the move go through according to English journalists.

"There was a misunderstanding, I never wanted to do something wrong at Sporting as I have always been very thankful to that team that gave me many chances for playing in Europe.

"If I made a mistake, I have already apologised because I didn't want to hurt the feelings of anyone at the club."

Rojo will strengthen the side and bolster Louis van Gaal's options in defence in his 3-5-2 formation as he was looking for a left side defender with Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling all predominantly right sided. United fans hope that this third signing of the summer will be built on, with Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind being strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils.
