Manchester United have agreed a loan-deal with AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian striker is expected to arrive in Manchester later today to agree personal terms and complete a medical. The loan fee is believed to be in the region of £9 - 12 million with a option to buy at the end of the campaign. Wages are yet to be agreed.

Cross-town rivals Manchester City were heavily linked with the 28-year-old and reports suggested that the forward was set to join the Premier League champions on a permanent basis. However, it has emerged that City were offered the player, but chose not to pursue their interest.

Van Gaal has growing concerns over the fitness of Robin Van Perise and sees Falcao as an ideal short-term replacement for the Dutchman. It is also believed that both Danny Welbeck an Javier Hernandez will leave Manchester United today either on loan or a pernament basis. Welbeck has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Hernandez is expected to be complete a medical at Real Marid later today.
