Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to sign Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck with the Englishman open to a move to White Hart Lane.

It was suggested that Manchester United had told Welbeck that he could not join a top six club despite allowing him to leave the North West but the arrival of Radamel Falcao from Monaco could see the previous statement taken back.

Louis van Gaal told Danny Welbeck that he would not feature as a central striker in the 3-5-2 formation as Welbeck wanted. Welbeck has been searching for a regular place as a central striker in the Premier League since then and White Hart Lane is the most likely destination.

Welbeck has two years left on his contract so a season long loan move would be viable should he not be entirely sure he wants to leave his boyhood club permanently.

Unlike his team mate, Tom Cleverley has only one year left on his contract so a loan move would see him run down his contract.
