1. United will regret not buying another center back

While the decision from referee Mark Clattenburg to award Leicester's first penalty was rightly bemoaned, the defense was horrible all afternoon. Marcos Rojo did not look entirely comfortable at right back, Jonny Evans looked poor before going off injured, Chris Smalling struggled mightily after he replaced him, Tyler Blackett showed that for all his talent he is just 20 and Rafael doesn't seem to know how to defend. For all of the excitement the new attacking signings bring, and all the goals they will score, this defense will concede goals. It is still early days, but the decision not to buy a player of the ilk of Mehdi Benatia will come to hurt United through the year.

2. The King Power Stadium is not going to be an easy place for anyone to win this season

When the fixture list was announced, and Leicester's first five fixtures were: Everton (H), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (H), Stoke (A) and Manchester United (H), fans of the foxes could be forgiven for expecting a bottom of the table beginning. But they have eight points from those first five, with come-from-behind draws to Everton and Arsenal and this come-from-behind win against United. The King Power this year will prove a difficult trip for everyone, and Leicester look very good value to stay up comfortably.

3. Wayne Rooney does not look like a Manchester United captain

Rooney endured a marginally better afternoon than he has recently with an assist, but did little more for his team. The raking crossfield ball that has become his trademark in recent seasons was not on show today, and he misplaced several passes. Apart from the assist, the most notable thing Rooney did was get red in the face berating his teammates after they conceded the third goal. He has yet to show the qualities on the field that you want to see in a captain; that of a man who will grab the game by the scruff of its neck and drive his team forward, searching for a winner. Today, instead of pushing on for a winner at 3-3, Rooney chose to pout, and United conceded a fourth goal straight away. The Liverpudlian may yet prove his mettle as a captain, but at the moment it appears van Gaal may have picked the wrong captain.

4. Expect a lot of these scorelines

With the likes of di Maria, van Persie, Falcao, Mata and Rooney in the side United will score buckets of goals this season but with the defense the way it is, there will be many similar scorelines this season. With the likes of Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City coming in the next five games, United will concede goals to them. The need to score in those matches will be intense, and for this side to pick up points in those matches, they may need to simply outscore them in matches that finish 2-1, 3-2, 4-3. These thrilling matches are not at an end.

5. We will soon find out if United are top 4 material

Speaking of Everton, Chelsea and City, with them coming in the next five matches we will soon find out if United are top 4 material. The first three matches can be looked at as a bit of an anomaly given that the new signings had yet to be bedded in and there was an injury crisis. However, now at near full strength and with three massive matches coming, we will know soon if they have what it takes to finish in the top 4. The Everton and Chelsea matches both take place at Old Trafford, so with the home crowd United will have a great chance to lay down markers for the rest of the season, but the City match at Eastlands will likely prove a stretch too far. These next five matches will be intriguing to look.
