Having lit up the world stage once again in Rio De Janeiro this summer, Arjen Robben has confirmed he has no regrets over snubbing a move to Manchester United in favour of Chelsea ten years ago.

Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to bring the winger to Old Trafford back in the summer of 2004, but failed to capture his signature as he departed from PSV to work alongside Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

The current Bayern Munich star enjoyed a three-year spell with the Blues, in which he won five major honours, before opting for a switch to Real Madrid for a colossal £24 million.

Now 30, the Dutchman secured back-to-back Premier League titles during the 2004/05 and 2005/06 campaigns, while celebrating success in the FA Cup a season later.

Having already lifted the Eredivisie with PSV back in 2003, Robben developed to become one of football’s hottest talents, winning the La Liga and Supercopa de España with Los Galacticos, before joining his current club in Germany.

When questioned whether he regretted not moving to the Theatre of Dreams, Robben replied:

"No, because if you look at the prizes I won with Chelsea, that says everything you need to say.

"I made the right decision, to work with a great manager like Mourinho. I made a big step there, developed myself as a player and won two leagues in three years, two League Cups and an FA Cup. It all worked out.

"I am very happy with how things went and at Bayern, it is the best team, for sure, that I have played with."

The Dutch maestro has since won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal three times, while also finally collecting a coveted Champions League winners’ medal during the 2012/13 season, having fallen at the final hurdle on two prior occasions.

He has also been unfortunate on the international stage, finishing as runner up during the 2010 World Cup, before finishing in third-place four years later, notably demolishing early favourites Spain in the opening stages.

Despite his strong relationship with Red Devil Louis Van Gaal, he is adamant a return is not on the cards, and wishes to stay with the reigning Bundesliga champions. He added:

"I am 30 now, it is not like I want to go to a new league. I have been in England, I have been in Spain, so I don’t have that desire, but that is all to do with the club I am with now.

"I am 100 per cent convinced I will stay here for a very long time. I am enjoying it so much in Germany. It is the perfect club with the perfect coach for me.

"My family is happy, we have lived here for five years and I am exactly at the place I want to be. It cannot be better than it is at the moment, so you don’t need to have thoughts about other clubs and other leagues.

"If you see me again in three years in the Premier League, then who knows, but at the moment, there is not even one per cent of me thinking about going to England or anywhere."

Robben extended his contract with Bayern Munich earlier in the year, keeping him with Pep Guardiola’s side until 2017.
