Prolific youngster Angelo Henriquez has hinted at a permanent move away from Old Trafford, yet to make a first-team appearance for the club.

With the Chilean joining the Red Devils in 2012, he has since had mixed reactions from loan spells at Wigan Athletic and Real Zaragoza. Failing to create the record he had as a teenager with Universidad de Chile, his club prior to the move to Manchester, it was expected he would soon return to his home nation in an attempt to restart his career.

Fans of the Manchester club have expressed their excitement at the prospect of Henriquez, but are yet to see him perform alongside the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney or Radamel Falcao.

Instead, he is reported to be enjoying life with Dinamo Zagreb, the club he was surprisingly shipped out to in the summer. As initial reports suggested the move was permanent, fans were left devastated at the potential loss to the club. News was soon confirmed of a loan, and Henriquez has since tallied ten goals in his last 12 appearances.

With the deal working well for both parties, fans may never get to see the 20-year-old wear the Manchester United jersey again, telling reporters he is enjoying life in Zagreb. He said:

“I love Zagreb, this is a great city, the food is good, the club and results are great.

“I would like to stay as long as possible and play in the Champions League for Dinamo. But Manchester United are following me. They call me after the league games when I score.

“I really like the Dinamo jersey. The problem is that my friends in Chile like the jersey too, so I’m constantly sending them to Chile. I think Chileans walk around in Dinamo shirts!”

However, his father has expressed his belief that his son wishes to return to Manchester to fight for a place in Van Gaal’s squad once his loan deal is completed. With the Croatian club having a clause in his contract to trigger a permanent move, Henriquez Sr. told Le Tercera:

“The idea of returning to Manchester United and succeeding is one of the main goals for Henriquez.

“He aims to be a part of the team that believed in him when he was younger.”

Manchester United have already given youth prospects James Wilson and Will Keane the chance to shine this season, and Van Gaal is a known admirer of using youth prospects.
