Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has asserted his side must be firing from kick-off as they head to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

We created chances in the last 15 minutes when we pressed the goal. Now we have to be ready from the first minute to press hard and create the chances.

After the Red Devils left it too late to launch an attack against Southampton at the weekend, they fell to their first defeat in thirteen matches as the Saints climbed to third.

The Belgian midfielder commented on the two matches and what Louis van Gaal’s men must achieve, saying:

"We created chances in the last 15 minutes [against Southampton] when we pressed the goal. Now we have to be ready from the first minute to press hard and create the chances."

Despite being branded a ‘flop’ under the management of David Moyes after following the Scot from Everton, van Gaal has transformed the 27-year-old to an influential figure in the Old Trafford set-up. Having now recovered from a broken rib, Fellaini hands the Dutchman another option in the hope of returning to winning ways.

Appearing as a late substitute against Ronald Koeman’s, his appearance somewhat improved the attacking threat, but was unable to help secure an equalisier. He added:

It was good to be back, I feel better. I broke my rib and was very sick, but now I’m much better and I'm training hard every day to be fit.

"The manager told me to get into the box for when crosses came in and to win challenges. I did that but we didn’t score so we were disappointed. It was hard to lose."

Having missed five matches over the festive period, he now feels is ready for the next challenge thrown at him by the former Barcelona manager, feeling fit and match ready. He continued:

"It was good to be back, I feel better. I broke my rib and was very sick, but now I’m much better and I'm training hard every day to be fit. When you do nothing for three weeks it’s difficult to come back so I have to train hard.

"We have all trained hard this week and we've looked at how QPR play. They play more direct so we have to be ready for that. But we can create chances to score so we have to go there and do it."

Marouane Fellaini has scored two goals in 12 appearances this season.
