Manchester United’s Reserves will head to the Leyland FA County Ground on Monday evening to face Bolton Wanderers in the Manchester Senior Cup semi-final.

With a 19:00 kick-off, the fixture will act as perfect preparation for a Barclays Under-21 Premier League showdown with Liverpool in a week’s time, while also potentially guiding Warren Joyce’s side to the final of the esteemed competition.

Nick Powell and Jesse Lingard will hope to remain in the squad after starting against Norwich City, while Josh Harrop looks like a clear choice for selection following his second-half stunner against the Canaries.

With Ben Pearson ineligible due to his loan spell with Barnsley, defender Reece James becomes available again following the completion of his temporary switch with Rotherham United and could return to action for the Red Devils.

As significant captain Tom Thorpe sat out of the Carrow Road clash, his replacements Marnick Vermijl and Donald Love will hope to remain within the central partnership, as Thorpe looks unlikely to be rushed into a return to action.

Joyce’s Red Devils are the current holders of the competition, having stunned local rivals Manchester City back in August with a 4-1 victory. After James Wilson netted all four, United will hope for another tie with the Citizens after a 2-1 triumph over Bury in October handed City the first place in the Manchester Senior Cup final.

Manchester United have won the competition a record 33 times and have held the title since 2011.
