Manchester United Under 21's player Sean Goss admits he is honoured amidst comparisons between himself and senior United player Michael Carrick.

"It’s a good thing to hear," Goss stated when asked about the comparisons. Goss also professed that Carrick is one of the United first-team players he looks up to and admires.

"Obviously, I look up to him as a player and I like to play like that. He has come down and trained with us and it gives you an idea of what it is like to be in the first team so you take notice of that. He is one of my favourite players in the first team and I do look up to him. I want to play like him as well, spreading passes, keeping the ball and trying to read the play, while getting on the ball as much as I can."

Having scored his first goal for the U21s earlier in the week against Leicester in a 1-1 draw, the comparisons will be sure to give the youngster some added confidence. Goss has made rapid progress in the United youth ranks, after the 19-year-old arrived at Old Trafford three years ago.

The German-born midfielder has caught the eyes of coaches and scouts around the U21 Premier League with his latest performances for Warren Joyce’s side and is a bright prospect for the future.
