Reports have suggested that Ajax forward Memphis Depay has been flown to England to discuss a reported £25million trasnfer to Manchester United.

The Sun reported that the 13 - time Premier League champions flew Depay and his agent Kees Ploegsma this week to discuss a deal which is believed to be worth £130 thousand a week.

It does seem that United had the edge of the likes of Liverpool and PSG with manager Louis Van Gaal been a huge advantage as he worked with the 21-year-old while in charge of the national side.

When asked about the rumours Van Gaal said:'I don’t discuss it with the media, you know my answer.

'I have a lot of relationships with players. I cannot buy all the players I've coached already.'

Depay has ben a revealtion for Ajax this scoring 20 goals in 28 games and winning the Everdivise along the way.

Dutch legend Frank De Boer also sees the forwards future at old trafford.

He said: “I don’t want to say which club is more suitable for him,”

“But if he goes to United he knows there’s a Dutch coach there in Van Gaal who knows him from the World Cup.

“That’s an advantage. He’s one of the biggest talents in Europe - he has everything."
