The only thing you could hear at half time was the 3,000 travelling Spurs fans as goals from Darren Bent and Luka Modric gave the visitors a 2-0 lead back in April 2009.

Going into the game, rivals Liverpool were sitting at the top of the table following their 3-1 win over Hull City.

The first 45 minutes had questioned how United were even fighting for the Premiership title, but a suspected 'hairdrying treatment' from Sir Alex Ferguson at half time certainly lifted his players as things got ugly for Spurs very quickly.

A controversial penalty decision by Howard Webb which saw Heurelho Gomes bring down Michael Carrick gave Cristiano Ronaldo and United a glimmer of hope after reducing the deficit.

The Champions were level 10 minutes later as Wayne Rooney blasted home after combined work from Carlos Tevez and former Spurs forward Dimitar Berbatov.

One minute later and the comeback was complete as Rooney's perfectly executed ball met the head of Ronaldo who's effort at the back post was to strong for Gomes to deny. Rooney then added his second and United's fourth after a ball from Ronaldo saw his low effort scramble over the line.

If things couldn't get any worse for Spurs, former striker Berbatov sealed the three vital points for United which saw them return the the top of the table before going onto lifting the trophy at the end of the season.

What the managers had to say?

Sir Alex: "It was a bit fortunate. Football is funny like that. Last week we were knocked out of the FA Cup by not getting a penalty kick. It doesn't deflect from our second-half performance."

Harry Redknapp"The turning point was definitely the penalty. It turned the game in their favour without a doubt. At that stage I couldn't see us getting beat. It was a gift which wasn't deserved. It was a terrible decision.

Howard (Webb) is supposed to be our best ref, but if he's the best I'd hate to see the worst."
