Louis van Gaal told press that it would be a busy summer at the club in terms of transfers after Manchester United's 0-0 draw away to Hull City.

Speaking at the KC Stadium after the game, van Gaal smiled as he told reporters of his ambitions for the summer break.

The Reds boss spent more than £100 million in last year's summer transfer window but is showing no signs of stopping with this latest quote.

United have already completed the signing of Eredisivie golden boot winner Memphis Depay who worked under Van Gaal at last year's World Cup in Brazil.

However, with Radamel Falcao being told he will not be signed permanently by the club and Robin van Persie possibly leaving, United will need to be looking for two new strikers in the summer.

Van Gaal has already spoken about the need for a central midfielder with Bastian Schweinsteiger linked to the club in recent days. A central defender is also high up on his list according to reports but Mats Hummels ruled himself out of a move to Old Trafford last week.

David De Gea has still yet to decide whether to sign a new contract for the Reds so van Gaal may also need a goalkeeper.

He said: “Yes, of course, I go on holiday but I have contact with Ed Woodward every day as he is doing the negotiations.

“We know now who has to go and which players we want to bring in, but that is a process, so you never know.

“These things are dependable on different parties – the club, the player and Manchester United of course. It shall be a heavy [busy] holiday! [Smiles].”

His side's 0-0 draw against Hull City meant nothing in terms of their league position as they already secured a top four spot two weekends ago. It means that if they get past UEFA Champions League qualification they will be playing in Europe's biggest tournament next season, what they set out to do when they hired the Dutchman.
