Manchester United got their chances boosted in their pursuit of Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid defender has not tied a new deal and has two years remaining in his current contract.

United have expressed their interest in the Spaniard in past and could capitalise if the contract talks doesn’t materialise for Ramos. His agent confirmed that Madrid has not yet come up with a new deal but the player himself would like to have a new challenge before he retires, though he is now firmly focusing on his career at Bernabeu.

The Spaniard’s agent hinted that Ramos is one of the favourites of the club president Florentino Perez and he is also loved by the Madrid fans so surely he will not move this summer away from the club.

Sergio Ramos joined Madrid in 2005 from Sevilla for a record fee for a teenager in Spain. Initially he played as right-back for both national team and Real Madrid. But in past few years he has modified his game, which has eventually made him one of the finest centreback of the game.

He has led the defence line fantastically  for the Los Blancos and was also a key member in helping them to clinch a record tenth champions league last year. The Spanish International has also chipped in with four goals this season. He also showed his versatility when he was deployed in the defensive midfield role in numerous matches in absence of Luka Modric which also included a sublime display against Atletico Madrid in Champions League quarter-final this year.

The Red Devils are in search of centre backs in the market. United lost two experienced defenders in form Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic last year,so Ramos would surely bring the quality and experience with him. Though any move is unlikely to take place this summer but Ramos would be a quality addition in near future too.
