David De Gea's contract situation has been widely monitored by worldwide football media, but which other players are entering the final twelve months at  Manchester United as things stand?

Goalkeeping guesswork

United are facing vast unpredictability in the goalkeeping department. First choice De Gea is looking likely to get a new deal, having turned down a contract extension just yet. With his girlfriend and family located in his hometown Madrid, and United probably looking to avoid letting him go on a free next summer, a Real Madrid transfer seems inevitable.

Other men with gloves who face an uncertain future at Old Trafford are Anders Lindegaard and Victor Valdes, with both on deals until 2016. But for how much longer is the Dane willing to sit on the bench? And how good is actually the former Barcelona keeper after over a year without regular football, let alone how suited is he to the crosses and aerial battling in the Premier League?

The only goalkeepers with a sorted United future are Ben Amos, whose deal is due to be released when his contract expires later this month, and Sam Johnstone, who signed a three-and-a-half-year extension to his existing deal in January 2014.

Defensive definiteness?

In defence, neither Jonny Evans or Rafael have been rated by Louis van Gaal, and both are on deals expiring in 2016. Rafael has even been dropped to an understudy of the hapless right-back Antonio Valencia, unable to man-mark and inept to cross. In other words, transfers might be ont the cards here. Additionally, the favoured Phil Jones' deal is of equal length, with the Englishman having decent negotiation cards on up his sleeve.

The defenders with longest contracts are currently Chris Smalling, who improved from a vulnerability to a leader after the dismissal against Manchester City, during Van Gaal's first season in charge, and 2014 signing Marcos Rojo. Young duo Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett are tied up until 2017, just like Antonio Valencia, and Luke Shaw's deal is due to expire a year later. Both McNair, Blackett and Shaw have options of a further year in their contracts.

Midfield mixture

Tom Cleverley was the only midfielder with a deal due to expire this year, and he's off to Everton on a free transfer. Next year will see the end of deals of forgotten man Nick Powell, key man Michael Carrick and the recently improved Ashley Young.

Belgian duo Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini are cashing in at Old Trafford until 2018, same as Nani, although the Portuguese is looking anything but likely to stay at the club until then.

The only midfielder with a longer deal is Ángel Di Maria, who despite being rumoured for a PSG transfer, is tied up until 2019. That means the five remaining midfielders - Daley Blind, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira and Ander Herrera are on for three more years from now on. Both Herrera and Lingard have options of a further year included in their contracts.

Stressing strikers

In the striking department, the only thing looking nailed on is Wayne Rooney's future, with the Scouser having a contract of equal length to Ángel Di Maria. James Wilson has only signed one professional deal at the club, and that was in 2012, with the player, agent and club yet to agree on an extension beyond 2015.

Robin van Persie stated that the situation of his deal is "not up to him", and Radamel Falcao has returned to parent club Monaco, with likeliness of joining Chelsea in the near future. What happens in the future of Javier Hernández remains to be seen, as the Mexican has been out of favour at Real Madrid during his loan spell, and he doesn't seem to be fancied by United's Dutch manager either.
