Reports from the Daily Telegraph last night suggested that Manchester United have now registered there interested in Morgan Schneiderlin.

They join Arsenal and Tottenham in wanting to sign him this summer but it's said a bid for him from United depend on progress of their other targets first.

Schneiderlin prefers United

Journalists close to Southampton say that the player will leave Southampton this summer and that he prefers to join United.

Southampton have placed a £24million price tag on Schneiderlin and the player himself has been talking about moving to a different club.

Schneiderlin speaking to French newspaper FranceBleu said “The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of [Southampton’s pre-season] training next week."

Van Gaal prioty is right-footed midfielder

Louis van Gaal has made signing a right footed central defensive midfielder this summer a priority, with targets such as Paul Pogba and Bastian Schweinsteiger as there first choices. Neither of these two are likely to happen so it makes it likely that United will turn their attentions back to Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin was close to leaving Southampton last summer but he struck a deal with Southampton that he would stay one more year.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Schneiderlin for a long time and also Tottenham are interested, but he has stated recently that he would like to join a Champions League club.

Arsenal are said to not want to pay the asking fee for Schneiderlin so therefore if United were to bid for him, it is likely a deal can be done sooner rather than later.

Schneiderlin is the perfect signing for Manchester United if it happens because he fits the role of Carrick's replacement perfectly. Van Gaal is desperate to get someone to play in that position and many feel Schneiderlin is a perfect fit but at the minute United are sitting back and pursuing Schweinsteiger first.
