After winning the Scottish Premier League and League Cup double last term, Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila is now apparently looking to add the versatile Manchester United man Saidy Janko to his books in a bid to get the Hoops into the UEFA Champions League.

The extent of the deal is currently blurry, with The Scottish Sun mentioning a season-long loan deal, but the Daily Mail are claiming it's a permanent move for the £700,000 United signing, who arrived from FC Zürich.

Similiar to Valencia - or maybe even better?

Janko is able to play at both right-back and right midfield, with pace and power as his main strengths. In other words, the 19-year-old is surprisingly similar to Antonio Valencia in that respect. However, the Swiss right-sider is more willing to take defenders on, he's a better defender and he's a more accurate crosser. United U21 head coach Warren Joyce described him as somebody "strong and quick who can go past people."

Loaned out to Bolton

The Switzerland international capped at U19 level and, arrived on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2013. Since, he's been performing consistently well for United's U21s, and since January he's been on loan at Bolton, where he according to reports has been impressing. The peak probably came early, already in his debut against Fulham, but what a peak. Janko received the ball at the edge of the box and nailed it into the top corner.

Is a transfer the best idea?

If Janko is perceiving himself as more of a right winger than a full-back, the transfer will maybe make some sense. In the wake of Memphis Depay's arrival and with teammates like Juan Mata and Ángel Di Maria, getting game time for the first team as an attacker will probably be a mountain to climb.

However, from United's point-of-view, selling a promising and talented versatile youngster, able to contribute in a position where United are vulnerable - right back - who has been progressing since joining the club, seems nothing but a premature decision. In that respect, United fans following the U21s will probably hope it's a loan deal instead.
