Fenerbahce have confirmed that talks are underway between the club and Manchester United ahead of a deal to bring striker Robin van Persie to the Super Lig.
Official Twitter account reveals talks have begun
On Thursday afternoon, the official English Twitter account for the nineteen time Super Lig Champions revealed that they have 'begun talks' with van Persie and his club.
Van Persie has been at Old Trafford for three seasons, having arrived at the club for £24 million in August 2012 from rivals Arsenal.

He guided the Reds to their 20th English league triumph in his first season, scoring 26 times in 38 games to win multiple individual awards as well, including the Golden Boot.
Yet his second and third season have been plagued with injuries, under two different managers, and playing time has been limited with goals often drying up for long periods of times.
United to save millions from Van Persie wages
Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that the Dutchman will sign a four year deal at Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
Meanwhile, the fee United will receive is said to be minimal by the Sky Italia reporter, who says that it will be around 6,500,000 euros.
Despite this, United will be saving huge amounts of money from his wages, which were reported to be £220,000 when he first signed at the club.
The tweet from Fenerbahce indicates that a deal will be struck soon, and an announcement of the deal is expected in the coming days, with United set to travel to the United States of America for their pre-season tour imminently.
