Manchester United newboy Memphis Depay has revealed that he is determined to become a legend at the club.

Depay joined United this summer from PSV Eindhoven. He made his debut for United last week against Club America and scored his first goal in a 3-1 win against San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday.

After an impressive World Cup last year, the Dutch winger enjoyed his best season of life last term as he grabbed 22 goals in the Dutch League before getting his big money move to Old Trafford.

Depay wants legendary status at Old Trafford

While talking to Sky Sports, Depay said that he dreams to become a “Manchester United legend.”

Manchester United have plethora of talent at the attacking positions which includes the likes of Juan Mata, Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young, Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira. But the Dutchman is ready to “put pressure on himself to play good every game”.

Depay believes that he “has to improve as the Premier League is different.” He suggested that in this process he can eventually become a club legend. He has expressed is gratitude as he has heard “positive sounds from the fans and the legends that talk about him.”

Van Gaal is great says new United signing

Depay has hailed the Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal.He has enjoyed a special relationship with Van Gaal as the Dutch manager handed him both debuts for Netherlands as well as for Manchester United. He reportedly advised Depay last year to stay at PSV as it will be good for his development. Depay has described Van Gaal as “a great, great manager.”

He believes Van Gaal “can make players a lot better” and he has felt that “he will be a better player every time he trains with him.”Manchester United face Barcelona this weekend and Depay would like to impress once again so that he is able to book a starting place against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League opening day clash.
