In the midst of a transfer to French champions Paris Saint Germain, Di Maria missed his flight to join the United squad on their tour of the United States of America.
The Argentina international had been in his home country, resting after the four week Copa America tournament where Argentina lost to hosts Chile in the final on a penalty shootout.
Now he is expected to complete his move to Paris Saint Germain in the next few days, with United beaten by PSG in the pre-season friendly tournament the International Champions Cup - Blaise Matuidi and Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the two goals to give PSG the win needed to win the entire tournament.
