Louis Van Gaal at his pre match press conference has given his full backing to Ed Woodward over transfer dealings by saying he trusts him fully, and says he has proven over the years that he is the right man for the job.

Woodward has been getting a lot of criticism over not completing the Pedro deal, which has led to Van Gaal not being very happy over this, and said that Woodward has proven he is great on transfers.

Van Gaal tells fans not to doubt Ed Woodward

Van Gaal says that fans shouldn't doubt Woodward "as he has proven for many years that he is the right man in the right spot" which is true as he has been able to complete high quality signings in the past two years.

Van Gaal continued to talk about his communication with Woodward saying "everyday I am updated by him and I trust him" which is good as there needs to be communication between the two.

It is good to see that Van Gaal has came out and defended Ed Woodward and he was asked about the Pedro deal, and if he was annoyed that the transfer did not happen.

Van Gaal hints that United pulled out of the Pedro deal

Van Gaal refused to talk about Pedro much saying "we cannot say what we want" which Van Gaal believes is "protecting the interests of the clubs and player" and Van Gaal thinks if United wanted to sign Pedro it would been done already with the "clause he had".

Van Gaal though would not lie about Pedro and said "he would have fit the profile" but went onto say that he "never said that" he "was interested in signing him" which makes you think he has other targets in mind.

Van Gaal suggested throughout the questions that it was an easy deal to do and that United did pull out of the deal, but would not go into it in details.

Van Gaal seems happy with the transfers that have been already completed this summer, but would like more but he says "you have to wait and see" as United are in no rush and Van Gaal says there is "no pressure on me, [United] have 28 players"

Schweinsteiger set to start against Newcastle

Van Gaal also hinted that against Newcastle United on Saturday Bastian Schweinsteiger "could start" as he feels it's just a "matter of time" before he starts all games.

Overall, Van Gaal seemed really irritated by all of the media's questions and tried to take the spotlight of Ed Woodward with all of the negative stories about him, and just wants to show they both have a good relationship together at United.
