David De Gea has once again been omitted from Manchester United squad ahead of their Champions League play-off second leg with Club Brugge.

De Gea left out of squad, Romero and Johnstone in

Sergio Romero, who has every game so far this campaign is expected to keep his place while youngster Sam Johnstone occupying the second keeping position for the trip to Belgium.

The Spaniard has yet to play a match this season which has only fuelled the rumours that he will make a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer.

United boss says De Gea won't leave

Manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that De Gea will not be sold in the current transfer window and that the reason the 24-year-oldhas not been selected is because he is unable to focus due to Real’s interest.

United head to Belgium looking to defend their 3-1 advantage that they managed at Old Trafford, they fell behind to a Michael Carrick own goal, but two goals from Memphis Depay and a late header from Marouane Fellaini gave them the advantage.

De Gea isn’t the only absentee from the squad with both Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones also expected to miss out on the trip.

It is no secret that Van Gaal has been looking for a possible replacement if De Gea’s move to the Bernabeu was to materialise.

Lloris and Cillessen linked with United moves

One of the many names that they have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer including Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. But it has been Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen who has been heavily linked with reuniting with Van Gaal who was his international manager.

It seems that Cillessen will be staying put in Amsterdam as he has said a move to England has never been “a thing” and he believes that his season “begins and ends” at Ajax.

Manchester United will face Club Brugge on Wednesday, August 26 with kick-off at 7:45PM BST.
