Besiktas have agreed a deal to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Valdes deal agreed between Besiktas and United

Sky Sports report that a deal has been struck between the Turkish SuperLig club and the Premier League club for Valdes, who has not played for United since May.

Valdes, 31, signed for the Reds in January 2015 and has made just two appearances, at the end of last season. He was left out of the club's squad for the pre-season tour of the United States of America and has United boss Louis van Gaal confirmed he would leave the club in July.

Valdes refused to play with United U21 side

The reason for his exclusion from the squad and from the first team training was due to a refusal to play for the reserves side according to Van Gaal.

Valdes arrived at United after six months without a club, having left Barcelona after many years due to a long term injury. There he won multiple Champions Leagues, La Ligas and a huge amount of other trophies.

His time at United will be remembered as an odd period where he was only given a chance due to an injury to David De Gea.

De Gea, Lindegaard and Valdes could all leave United

De Gea may also be leaving Old Trafford this transfer window, with Real Madrid lurking throughout the whole year. Anders Lindegaard was previously linked with Besiktas and could leave United to see the Reds have just two goalkeepers available.

Only Sergio Romero's future at the club is not in doubt, while Sam Johnstone could unexpectedly be United's number two this season if De Gea leaves.

Even if Valdes did refuse to play for the U21 United side, it is another strange decision by Van Gaal to force him out of the club. He is a goalkeeper of immense quality, often regarded as one of the best in the world. He also speaks English, unlike Romero, and has a great amount of respect from the players.
