Louis van Gaal says he's hoping to to show everyone that Manchester United have improved since last year when they play Swansea City on Sunday.

The Dutchman is in his second season at Old Trafford, joining after the 2014 World Cup where he guided the Netherlands to a third placed finish. So far it has been good, Van Gaal has built his own side and is progressing well with it. On Wednesday, a Wayne Rooney hattrick saw United hammer Club Brugge 4-0 to see them into the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Van Gaal looking to Champions League opponents already

On the draw for the group stages on Thursday, United were in Pot 2 and placed in Group B with PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg. On the draw, which most regard as easy for United, van Gaal says that "it could be worse but it could be better" as well. United drew Memphis Depay's former club PSV from Pot 1, avoiding the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Now United "have to look... to the clubs because" at the moment in football, "shape is more important than it was in the past." United's opposition scout "Marcel Bout is already doing to" Wolfsburg and PSV matches. Soon "PSV have to play Feyernoord" which is a "big match in Holland" so United "have to analyse now"

Van Gaal hopes 50th game is better than 1st

On United's match on Sunday, where they will be looking to keep their unbeaten record out of five games this season, van Gaal says it was his first match "against Swansea and [United] lost." This time van Gaal has his "50th and [he hopes it] can show [United] have improved."

This year United "are better prepared" according to van Gaal and he doesn't "want to lose again". Swwansea are "the only club" that United "could not beat or gain one point against last season" and he hopes that they "can improve and that" they "can show that" they "are better than last year."

Januzaj out, Fellaini available says van Gaal

Adnan Januzaj "is injured and cannot play" after picking up a knock in mid-week training but Marouane "Fellaini is back" and "you never know" if he could be selected. The Belgian midfielder has been suspended for all three Premier League games this season but played in the first leg of the Brugge game, now his suspension is up and he'll be hoping for a chance to earn his place in the side.

Van Gaal reveals nothing on transfer business

In terms of transfers, with deadline day for English clubs coming in the next few days and United still lacking a couple of players, van Gaal says that only when United "want to do announcements [they] shall do it, not when you [journalists] ask us."
