Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has agreed a deal with West Brom having been linked with a move away for some time, according to multiple reports.

Evans looks like he will be making his way to the Hawthorns this summer as the Northern Irish international has not been included in the United team for some time. The fee that has been reported on is £6m plus £2m in add-ons. The 27-year-old has been rumoured to gather interest from Everton.

The experienced defender has spent most of his career in Manchester. In the nine years he was at United, he made 198 appearances for the club and won three Premier League titles.

If the deal is finalised and the player does go to the Midlands, he will join up with his ex-teammate Darren Fletcher. Evans has been hearing positive words from the Scotsman about the club and that may have swayed his move. Reports showed that his move hasn’t happened yet as he is waiting to hear from Everton about the John Stones saga.

This move should not come as a surprise to United fans as he has been out of favour for the past few years at the club. The current manager, Louis van Gaal, has been cutting players from his roster all summer and he is being vigilant on who agrees with his philosophy for the club and who doesn’t. Evans seems to have been part of the second option along with goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is being offloaded to Besiktas.

This deal seems to have been made due to the exit of Joleon Lescott. He has agreed a fee with Aston Villa to leave the Hawthorns and the manager Tony Pulis.

Pulis has expressed his interest in Evans saying: “Jonny would be a great signing for the football club but it's down to the money men and his side, it takes three parties, the player and the clubs. I'd love to sign Jonny Evans.

“I’ve spoken to loads of people not just players. Sometimes players can say things because they like the person and not his ability.”
