Manchester United have completed the signing of 19-year-old AS Monaco striker Anthony Martial for an undisclosed fee.

The French youngster has signed a deal at Old Trafford, having earlier been given permission to leave the French national set up by manager Didier Deschamps, having received his first senior call up, to sign for the Reds.

United sign young striker for huge fee

United are thought to have paid Monaco an astounding, quite unbelievable fee of £36million, making Martial the most expensive Frenchman ever and the most expensive teenager of all time in football.

He scored nine goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances last season, making him the top under-20 scorer in Europe in 2014/15.

The Red Devils have been crying out for a new striker and while Martial will not provide an instant impact necessarily, he has a huge potential, already making almost fifty appearances for Monaco before reaching twenty.

11 years after Rooney signed, Martial becomes most expensive teenager

Eleven years to the day that current United captain Wayne Rooney signed for the Reds for a record fee as a teenager, Martial has put pen to paper at United, in a similar record deal.

Many will find it incredible that United have found it possible to see Martial worth £36million but in the long term, just like Rooney, it could pay off for the Reds.

However, Martial does not provide an instant goalscoring outlet for United, who are struggling in that department with just three goals in four games, including an own goal by Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker.

Martial is sixth United signing of season

Martial is United's sixth signing of the window, with Sergio Romero, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay already joining, with Martial making the total money spent add up to more than £110million.

Louis van Gaal's side are having a very busy few days in the transfer market, with the futures of David De Gea, Anders Lindegaard, Adnan Januzaj and Victor Valdes all unknown.
