It appears that Victor Valdes will stay at Manchester United despite falling out with manager Louis van Gaal earlier this year.

Valdes, 31, signed for United as a free agent in January 2015, having been out of a club for six months due to recovering from a long term injury.

However, he only played two times after putting pen to paper at Old Trafford, due to injury to David De Gea in the late part of the season. De Gea was then expected to leave the club, and in fact signed for Real Madrid only for a paperwork mishap between United and Los Blancos to mean the deal fell at the last moment.

It now means that United have three goalkeepers, all of a good quality. Sergio Romero, signed on a free transfer in July, has played in all of the first six matches in both the Premier League and Champions League but with both De Gea and Valdes staying, could drop out of the side.

The Press Association say Valdes will stay and look to get into the first team despite falling out with Van Gaal, who cited the Spanish goalkeeper refusing to play in the reserves side as the reason for the argument. Van Gaal said that Valdes was "not selected because he doesn't follow our philosophy and there is no place for someone like that, he refused to play in the second team."

United have already seen one goalkeeper leave in the past few days, with Anders Lindegaard joining West Bromwich Albion alongside long serving defender Jonny Evans. There are still a few hours left of the transfer window, which you can follow all the United news from here on VAVEL UK.
