Manchester United confirmed another signing on deadline day, when they completed the signing of Newport County's young defender Regan Poole, who is set to play with the United Academy side.

United signed Poole for a fee that is believed in the region off £100,000 which could rise to £500,00, which is not a bad fee who for someone who should progress well with the United academy.

Poole has a successful trail at United before completing his move to the club

Poole is only 17 years old, and had a successful trial at the AON Training Complex, which led to United beating off competition from a number of clubs for his signature, which was confirmed by Newport's Manager Terry Butcher.

Butcher on the Welsh Clubs website said "a number of clubs showed interest in Regan" which shows the talent he must have but "when Manchester United called, there was only going to be one outcome" as the defender only wanted to join United.

Butcher continued to say "it's every boy's dream to play for Manchester United" which shows the size of the club in which everyone wants to join the club and "when United come calling you have to answer".

Poole has already represented Wales at under 17 level

Poole has already represented Wales at U17 level, which is very good to see and that will help his progression and he will get better, and just last year Poole became Newport's youngest ever player in the clubs history when he made his debut.

Poole will increase the options in United's academy

Poole will increase the options that Paul McGuinness will have for his Academy side next year with Axel Tuanzebe and Ro-Shaun Williams maybe making the next step into the Under 21s.

It is very important that United continue to bring in youth players to there academy as it will increase the options that could possibly progress at the club, as it is a well run academy which more often than not produces a huge amount of talent.
