Following a humbling defeat to Premier League rivals Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday, revelations are surfacing of discord between player and manager at Manchester United, with fans set for more uncertainty.

Various outlets on Monday reported that United's Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has fallen out with his club boss Louis van Gaal and his immediate future at the club looks under extreme threat at Old Trafford.

Rojo dispute with Van Gaal

One such source comes from journalist Martin Arevalo from Rojo's native Argentina. Arevalo is a respected broadcaster of TyC Sports in South America.

He claims that Rojo missed the game in North London, not through injury, but because of a dispute with Van Gaal and is now set to look for pastures new when the transfer window opens in January.

LvG player disharmony no secret

Following Angel di Maria and Robin van Persie's summer departures from the club - combined with Victor Valdes' well-publicised off-field spats - it seems another has fallen foul of the Dutchman's strict regime.

Rojo has only played one game for The Red Devils this season, after Luke Shaw's horror injury sustained versus PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

After participating in the Copa America over the summer, one could be forgiven for allowing Rojo to take time to get back to speed in England, but it seems there is now more to Rojo's extended absence and lack of game time, than meets the eye.

Further defensive problems for United?

The £17m fee used to purchase Rojo from Sporting Lisbon back in August 2014, is now likely to substantially less as a selling price, if the dispute fails to be resolved.

Not only that, but with Shaw out until at least April and on the back of conceding three goals versus The Gunners - with Ashley Young at left-back - the options to replace both Shaw and Rojo are now hugely limited, aside from installing Matteo Darmian into that berth, albeit with the error-prone Antonio Valencia slotting in on the right.

Louis van Gaal's aggressive squad policy, may yet backfire in his face.
